The premises comprise an accommodation section on 3 floors and a single storey bar area. The building dates back to the 16th century and is situated on a main road (A487) between Machynlleth and Dolgellau.

We welcome people with disabilities and every effort will be made to accommodate the requirements of people with disabilities, within the limits of a 350 year old building on a restricted site between a 30 foot high cliff and a main road.

Facilities & access

Main road situation. Car parking is on opposite side of road to the building and traffic is sometimes quite fast moving. The speed limit is notionally 30 miles per hour and there are no traffic calming measures.

Bar area: ramp access to door, but small step over doorway. Moveable seating and bar games (pool, darts, etc.) area here.

Further step to bar servery area and toilets (narrow door).

Narrow doorway from here to residential section.

Front door to residential section from main road, with two small steps and safety barrier.

Ground floor kitchen, dining room and lounge, all on level ground with no steps and with wide doorways.

Back entrance through gate leads to uneven area with access to drying room. Passage here quite narrow. The building is built very close to a cliff face and the rear area can be very wet after rain and as all the area is slate can be very slippery.

Stairs lead off from front door.

One flight stairs to 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite. 1 with small bathroom with shower, hand basin & toilet the other is larger). Further bathroom with shower, sink, toilet which is quite large).

Further flight of stairs to remaining 3 bedrooms and bathroom - similar dimensions to first floor. On this landing - a small step at each end to access bedrooms. One of which is close to the stairwell.

Due to the age of the premises some floors are uneven, although all areas have fitted carpets.

Access (by steps and narrow door ways) is limited and assistance may be needed.

Notices can be printed in large print for visually impaired visitors.

There are bright gold visual strips on edges of steps in bar area and on top landing to indicate change of level.

The premises are well lit throughout with fire alarms, smoke detectors and emergency 'fail safe' emergency lighting units in each room.

The premises are close to the road so audible road noise is common during busy periods. However the walls are very thick and the rear of the property is well sheltered from road noise and would be more suitable for people with auditory impairment.

The bar area can be noisy at times.

Payphone for use by guests on the premises.

Mobile phone reception varies. Vodaphone having best service in area.

Nearest town - Machynlleth (5 miles). Bus & train stations here.

Bus stop immediately outside the bunkhouse.
