Activities: Mountain Biking
There are plenty of opportunities within
the area for cycling at all levels of ability from waymarked routes, specially
designed mountain tracks and gentle valley rides.
Appreciate the stunning and varied scenery
from the mountains and valleys to rivers and forests.
For the more serious mountain bike rider
- Machynlleth is a focal point for
mountain biking with 3 routes from the centre of the town. The Mach
1,2 and 3 go from 13 km route of Mach 1 as a taster to Mach 3 at 30
km of technical riding. More info on www.mach-off-road.org.uk.
- Coed y Brenin Forest Park is about
17 miles away and has some of the finest mountain biking in the UK.
Again, a variety of levels will provide hours of excitement and entertainment.

- The Dyfi forest area has recently
been awarded grants to develop new mountain biking routes. The first
phase of the development is set to be completed in the summer of 2004.
Phase one will be around 15 km of track with a 3 km 'precipitous' downhill
section. When completed there will be approximately 40 km of mountain
biking track. The trails are 3 km from the Braich Goch! There will be
plenty in the area to occupy the enthusiast! The project is being developed
